The orderwave inventory managment module is one of the most powerful and automated aspects of the orderwave system. All order-based inventory deductions are performed automatically by the system, with detailed deduction notes on a per item basis.
The inventory management module provides 4 different fields for categorizing and identifying inventory.
1) item number (most unique) 2) inventory number (unique) 3) catalog (unique to a group of inventory items) 4) description (free flow text description of item)
The inventory management module in orderwave supports 3 different types of inventory.
Standard inventory part This is a standard inventory item that has a 'quantity on hand' attached to it. It references 1 part only.
Inventory kit This inventory part consists of several different inventory parts. It's 'quantity on hand' is derived and deducted from it's sub-components, giving it a pure 'quantity on hand' value.
Virtual kit This type of inventory only exists as a reference to it's sub-components. It carries no 'quantity on hand' of it's own, and orders requesting this part will deduct inventory directly from the sub-components. This is one of the most powerful features in orderwave.
